Dance Lessons: Argentine Tango, Ocho Defrente Adornos

In Argentine tango, the Forward Ocho (also known as Ocho Defrente, translated in English to "Figure Eight") is the painting of figure eights (or the mathematic infinity symbol) by the feet on the floor, generally by the woman or follower. This is a basic movement in tango, executed by a turn and forward step that is going in one direction, then reversed wherein the upper torso from ribcage up is disassociated from the hips and legs.

Adornos (embellishments) are small decorations added to steps in tango to make it look and feel more beautiful. They are used to infuse the dance with personal expression or interpretation of certain elements of the music.
